Abstract

Konsep Weigh-In-Motion adalah proses penentuan beban kendaraan dengan mengukur beban kendaraan ketika bergerak. Penggunaan teknologi WIM saat ini menggunakan piezoelectric, capacitive mats, bending plate, strain gauge dan load cell sebagai sensor. Sensor tersebut memiliki beberapa kekurangan diantaranya mudah korosi, rentan terjadi interferensi elektromagnetik, cangkupan kecepatan rendah, instalasi dan konstruksi rumit. Saat ini telah banyak dikembangkan sensor beban berbasis serat optik. Pada penelitian ini akan dirancang dan dibuat sensor beban serat optik berstruktur singlemode-multimode-singlemode (SMS) karena memiliki sensitivitas tinggi, berbiaya murah dan mudah dibuat. Pembebanan pada serat optik berstruktur SMS dilakukan dengan cara melewatkan beban bergerak berupa kendaraan roda dua. Penelitian ini akan meninjau bagaimana pengaruh pembebanan dinamis dan kecepatan terhadap defleksi daya keluaran pada serat optik. Hasil eksperimen pada pengujian beban statis menunjukkan sensitivitas tertinggi sensor beban pada panjang 55 mm sebesar 0,09889 dBm/kg. Pada pengujian dinamis semakin tinggi kecepatan beban dinamis maka akan menghasilkan perubahan daya yang semakin kecil
==================================================================================================Weigh-In-Motion is a process of determining weight of vehicles by measuring the weight of the vehicle as it moves. Nowadays, WIM technology utilizes piezoelctric, capacitive mats, bending plate, strain gauge, and load cell as the sensor. The sensor has few inadequacy such as easy corrosion, susceptive to electromagnetic interference, complex installation and construction. Load sensor based-optical fiber has been developed by many research group. In this study, we design a load sensor using singlemode-multimode-singlemode optical fiber because this configuration has high sensitivity, low-cost construction, and easy constructed. This study aims to find the effect of dynamics loading and velocity to the change of output power of optical fiber. It is yielded that the highest sensitivity of the sensor is 0,09889 dBm/kg for staticloading, respectively at length 55 mm. The test of dynamic loading has been generated that greater velocity will lead to change in the value of deflection output power is getting smaller
