Abstract
Pemerintah RI tengah merencanakan pembangunan kapal survei seismik baru
personil didapatkan batas tinggi gelombang signifikan maksimal sebesar 1,2 m.
sebaran gelombang laut Natuna, berdasarkan kriteria umum Olson diperoleh
sebesar 97,31% tanpa operasi survei seismik dengan down time 2,69%.
hanya mencapai 67,95%, atau down time sebesar 32,05%.

vessel through the Ocean Geology R&D Center (P3GL). In view of assuring the
safety of the new vessel Geomarin IV, seakeeping analysis and operability
evaluation are required to find out the limit where the vessel is capable of to operate
optimally. Analysis is started by performing a computation to derive the vessel’s
Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs) in three (3) vertical mode of motions,
namely heave, roll, and pitch. Further the RAOs are processed in a spectral analysis
to obtain the spectral responses in random wave at significant wave height Hs
variations ranging from 1.0 m up to 7.0 m. Results of the spectral responses for
variations of Hs and load conditions are then correlated to the seakeeping criteria.
The correlation exhibits the maximum significant wave height for operation may
be limited to 1.3 m, 1.6 m, and 3.2 m, respectively, when the criteria from
Nordforsk, BV, and Olson are considered. Whereas the operability related to the
helicopter or good and personnel transfer criteria is found to be limited at maximum
significant wave height of 1.2 m. The probability of the vessel to be operated
optimally or operable without seismic survey activity at the forward speed V = 15.0
knots under the general criteria from Olson, with the reference to the wave scatter
diagram for Natuna Sea, may reach as high as 97.31% or only 2.69% down time,
In case the survey activity is performed at the forward speed V = 5.0 knots, in
accordance to Olson’s criteria, the vessel may attain 99.97% operability, whereas
by referring to Nordfosk and BV the operability is much lower in the order of
67.95%, or a down time of 32.05%.
