Abstract
Mangrove berfungsi sebagai pelindung pantai. Pohon yang kuat sebagai peredam ombak
dan mempercepat pengendapan lumpur sehingga dapat menahan abrasi. Mangrove tumbuh
pada pantai-pantai yang terlindung atau pantai-pantai yang datar, biasanya di sepanjang sisi
pulau yang terlindung dari angin atau di belakang terumbu karang di lepas pantai yang
terlindung. Kecamatan sedati merupakan salah satu kawasan pesisir yang berada di
Kabupaten Sidoarjo yang memiliki luas Hutan Mangrove terluas dari hutan-hutan Mangrove
lain yang ada di pesisir Sidoarjo. Kecamatan Sedati juga menjadi tempat yang strategis
dikarenakan wilayahnya berbatasan dengan Kota Surabaya. Luas hutan Mangrove yang
terdapat di kawasan Sedati Kaupaten Sidoarjo telah mengalami penurunan dalam beberapa
tahun terakhir akibat Konversi Hutan Mangrove yang telah dilakukan hingga saat ini.
Menurunnya luas hutan mangrove ini ternyata memberikan dampak langsung terhadap
kondisi lingkungan dan ekonomi masyarakat pesisir sekitar kecamatan Sedati yang dekat
langsung dengan area pesisir tersebut. Oleh karena itu pada studi kasus kali ini penulis
menempatkan wilayah Pesisir Sedati untuk dikaji bagaimana kondisi Hutan Mangrove di
pesisir Sedati Kabupaten Sidoarjo yang di lakukan oleh pemerintahan Sidoarjo.

Mangroves serve as a protective beach. Trees are strong absorbers waves and accelerate the
deposition of silt that can withstand abrasion. Mangroves grow on sheltered beaches or
beaches are flat, usually along the side of the island is protected from wind or behind the
coral reefs off the coast sheltered. Sedati sub-district is one of the coastal areas located in
Sidoarjo who has extensive mangrove forests of the widest another Mangrove forests in
coastal Sidoarjo. Subdistrict Sedati also a strategic place because the territory bordering the
city of Surabaya. Mangrove forest area is located in the district of Sidoarjo Kaupaten Sedati
has decreased in recent years due to the conversion of mangrove forest that has been done to
date. The decline in mangrove forest area proved a direct impact on the environment and
economy of coastal communities surrounding districts Sedati the immediate proximity to the
coastal area. Therefore at this time the case study authors put Sedati Coastal region to assess
the condition of mangrove forests in the coastal Sidoarjo regency Sedati undertaken by the
government of Sidoarjo.
