Abstract
Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap Paiton Unit 7 dan 8
merupakan pembangkit listrik yang memanfaatkan batu bara sebagai
sumber energi untuk menghasilkan listrik. Batu bara yang dibakar
setiap harinya pada kedua unit PLTU tersebut sekitar 14.000 ton/hari.
Pembakaran batu bara untuk menghasilkan energi tersebut akan
menghasilkan residu berupa karbon dioksida (CO2), karbon
monoksida (CO), oksida nitrogen (NOX), oksida sulfur (SOX), serta
bottom ash dan fly ash yang berbahaya bagi kesehatan maupun
lingkungan.
Untuk menurangi emisi bahan pencemar tersebut PLTU
Paiton Unit 7 dan 8 telah menerapkan sistem pengandalian
pencemaran udara. Dalam Tugas Akhir ini dibahas efisiensi sistem
pengendalian udara pada kedua unit PLTU tersebut dalam
menurunkan kadar CO dan NOx.
Evaluasi dilakukan dengan membandingkan kadar CO dan
NOx yang tercatat pada alat pengukur dangan yang dihitung dengan
metode stokiometri. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sistem
pengendalian pencemaran udara yang diterapkan pada kedua unit
PLTU tersebut mampu menurunkan kadar CO berturut-turut sebesar
89% dan 94% pada unit 7 dan 8. Penurunan kadar NOx berturut -turut
sebesar 82% dan 87% pada unit 7 dan 8

Coal Power Station of Paiton Unit 7 and 8 is the power
station that use the coal as source of energy to yield the powers. Coal
consumption for operation of Coal Fired Power Station at Paiton
Unit 7 and 8 per day is about 14,000 ton. Firing of coal will yield
residu in the form of dioxide carbon ( CO2), carbon monoxide (CO),
nitrogen oxide ( NOx), sulphur oxide ( SOx), and also bottom ash
and fly ash that is dangerous for people health and environmental.
To reduce the dangerous of gas emission, Coal Fired Power
Station of Paiton Unit 7 and 8 applies air polution control systems.
In this Final Project the efficiency of this system for lessen the
amount of CO and NOx emission is discussed.
The evaluation is done by comparing the amount of CO and
NOx emission that is calculated using empirical formulas with the
actual data from the air polution control meters. The results of
evaluation show that the controlling system can reduce the emission
of CO is about 89% and 94% for unit 7 and 8, respectively. The
reduces of NOx at unit 7 and 8 is about 82% and 87%, respectively
