Abstract
LPG merupakan bahan bakar berupa gas yang dicairkan (Liquified Petroleum Gasses) merupakan produk minyak bumi yang diperoleh dari proses distilasi bertekanan tinggi. LPG murni tidak memiliki warna dan tidak memiliki bau, sehinga sulit untuk mendeteksi keberadaannya. Oleh sebab itu untuk faktor keselamatan, LPG sebelum dipasarkan terlebih dahulu ditambahkan zat pembau (odor) yaitu etil merkaptan (C2H5SH) sehingga apabila terjadi kebocoran segera dapat diketahui. Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini adalah mengetahui resiko dan konsekuensi kebocoran etil merkaptan, mengetahui cara meminimalisir resiko terjadinya kebocoran pada instalasi etil merkaptan, merancang desain alternatif sistem instalasi etil merkaptan pada Terminal LPG, dan mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan desain sistem yang dirancang. Metode yang digunakan ialah dengan melakukan analisis resiko menggunakan HAZOP analysis, dilanjutkan dengan perancangan desain alternatif. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan resiko dan konsekuensi dari kebocoran etil merkaptan baik dalam bentuk cair maupun uap dapat diketahui melalui analisis resiko menggunakan metode HAZOP analysis. Dari hasil analisis HAZOP didapatkan rekomendasi untuk menambahkan sistem pendingin pada drum etil merkaptan dan penambahan insulasi pada pipa transfer etil merkaptan

LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) was a petroleum product obtained from a high pressure distilation. LPG has no color and no smell, so that it is difficult to detect its presence. In addition, to detect the leakage of LPG, the LPG before marketed prior written substance of smell (odor) it was called ethyl mercaptan (C2H5SH) so that in case of a leak immediately known. The purpose of this thesis were to determine the risks and consequences of leakage of ethyl mercaptan, determine how to minimize the risk of leakage on ethyl mercaptan installation, design the alternative system plan of ethyl mercaptan installation, determine the advantages and disadvantages of the designed system. The method used were perform the HAZOP analysis to determine the risk and desinging the alternative sistem plan. The result of the analysis were the risks and the consequences of the leaked of ethyl mercaptan can be found by perform the HAZOP anlysis. The HAZOP analysis recomended to attach cooling system on the ethyl mercaptan drum, and added pipe insulation on the ethyl mercaptan transfer pipe
