Abstract

Heat Exchanger merupakan alat yang digunakan dalam proses perpindahan panas antara dua fluida yang memiliki perbedaan temperatur dan dipisahkan oleh dinding-dinding. Penerapan heat exchanger diantaranya pada insudtri pembangkit,air conditioning, dan pada proses kimia. Didalam industri pembangkit listrik salah satu penerapan heat exchanger adalah economizer. Economizer memanfaatkan gas buang yang dihasilkan exhaust pada boiler. Dengan memanfaatkan kembali gas buang dapat menghemat konsumsi bahan bakar. Agar economizer dapat menghasilkan koefisien perpindahan panas yang besar dapat dilakukan variasi pada susunan pipa yang ada di economizer. Ada dua variasi susunan pipa pada economizer yaitu susunan aligned dan staggered. Jarak longitudinal pitch (SL) dan transversal pitch (ST) juga mempengaruhi. Pada penelitian tugas akhir ini dilakukan simulasi susunan pipa economizer dengan menggunakan metode Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) untuk mengetahui koefisien perpindahan panas. Dari hasil simulasi didapatkan bahwa nilai koefisien perpindahan panas terbaik ada pada susunan staggered dengan variasi jarak 55/60 sebesar 143 W/m2.K. Hal ini dikarenakan pada variasi 55/60 memiliki celah transversal lebih keci. sehingga perpindahan panas yang terjadi lebih optimal bila dibandingkan dengan susunan aligned =================================================================================================== Heat exchanger are devices that is used in the process of exchanging heat between two fluids which have temperature difference and are separated by a solid wall. Heat exchangers are commonly used in the power plant industries, air conditioners, and in chemical process industries. The most well known type of heat exchangers in the power plant in the power plant industries is an economizer. Economizers utilize waste heat in the exhaust gas of boiler so that industries can cut fuel costs. A previous study has carried out that varies configuration of tubes in the economizers perform a high heat transfer coefficients. There are two types of tube configurations i.e aligned and staggered. Moreover, the distance between longitudinal pitch (SL) and transversal pitch (ST) affects the heat transfer coefficients. This study carry out an optimum number of heat transfer coefficients performed by simulation varies arrays of tubes in economizers using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).It is found in the simulation that the optimum heat transfer coefficients is 143 W/m2 .K of straggered arrays for a given distance 55/60. In conclusion, straggered arrays exhibits better performance than aligned arrays
