Abstract

Limbah air panas dari Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) dialirkan kembali ke laut. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan suhu di perairan sekitar pembuangan menjadi tercemar. Jika tanpa proses pendinginan, maka suhu di perairan sekitar akan jauh lebih tinggi dari suhu lingkungannya. Ekosistem di area terdampak seperti ikan, terumbu karang dan populasi lainnya akan mengalami gangguan fungsi hidup. KEP-MENLH RI No.51/2004 menetapkan peraturan mengenai baku mutu limbah untuk ekosistem karang, yaitu suhu perairan <2ºC dari suhu lingkungannya. Untuk mengetahui probabilitas persebaran suhu limbah, maka dilakukan pemodelan hidrodinamika dengan software MIKE 21. Arah arus hasil pemodelan di sekitar water discharge PLTU Paiton mengarah ke sebelah kanan/timur water discharge, yang mana mempengaruhi arah persebaran limbah air panas. Jarak ±400 m sebelah kanan water discharge mendapat pengaruh limbah panas hingga suhu rata-ratanya 33,9°C saat pasang tertinggi dan 34,47°C pada saat surut terendah. Setelah dilakukan simulasi montecarlo, empat titik pengamatan suhu menunjukkan probabilitas persebaran suhu dengan jenis distribusi Beta.

Thermal pollution from Paiton power plant streamed back into the sea. This activity affects waters around the exhaust temperature for becoming polluted. Without cooling treatment, temperatures around discharge canal will be higher than the temperature of ambient. Ecosystems in affected areas such as fishes, coral reefs and other population will experience impaired function of life. KEP-MENLH No. 51/2004 sets rules on raw effluent quality, i.e the waters temperature for coral ecosystem <2ºC from ambient waters temperature. Hydrodynaics modelling was conducted by MIKE 21 software to find out the probability of temperature distribution in the waste. Direction of flows is modelled around water discharge power plant Paiton leads to the right/east water discharge, which influence the direction of the distribution of wastewater. Distance ±400 m of the right water discharge influenced by heat of waste until the mean temperature was 33,9°C while the highest high tide and 34,47°C at the time of the lowest low tide. After a simulated montecarlo was performed, four point temperature observation show the probability of distribution of temperature with the type of Beta distribution.
