Abstract

Pabrik II PT. Petrokimia Gresik yang memproduksi pupuk phonska sering mengalami gangguan kerusakan bucket elevator akibat kegagalan berulang pada u-bolt chain. U-bolt chain merupakan rantai yang menempel pada bucket elevator dan berfungsi sebagai penghubung antar bucket elevator dengan marine chains. Kegagalan yang terjadi adalah putusnya u-bolt chain pada bucket elevator. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan melakukan analisa penyebab kerusakan u-bolt chain menggunakan metode Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). Data pendukung berupa gambar kerusakan, downtime history, kondisi aktual operasional dan datasheet teknik didapatkan dari Petrokimia Gresik. Metode analisa u-bolt chain dilakukan secara analitis,makroskopis dan simulasi. Simulasi Finite Element Analysis (FEA) dilakukan untuk mendapatkan stress yang terjadi pada u-bolt chain. Jenis material u-bolt chain adalah low carbon chromiummolybdenum AISI 4130. Berdasarkan perhitungan analitis, gaya yang diterima rantai sebesar 12,4 kN, jauh di bawah batas gaya yang diizinkan sebesar 377 kN. Hasil simulasi software FEA, tegangan maksimal yang diterima u-bolt chain sebesar 190.69 Mpa. Pembebanan terhadap fatigue, rantai dapat bertahan selama 24 hari.

PT.Petrokimia Gresik frequently interrupted due to the repeated failure of the u-bolt chain bucket elevators. Failure happened is u-bolt chain bucket elevators. This research analyzed and simulates cause of the failure of the chain bucket elevators. The study has analyzed the cause of failure that using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) method to design a better system. Supporting data are pictures of damage, downtime history, actual operational conditions, and technical datasheet. Material testing is conducted to find the material used, its mechanical properties and fracture patterns. Based on analytical calculations, the force received a chain of 12 KN, far below the allowable limit in the amount of 337 KN. Maximum stress received the chain through the simulation of software was 190.69 MPa, below the maximum allowable stress is equal to 560 Mpa. Based on the simulation of the fatigue loading, the chain can last for 24 days, closer to the actual condition of the chain at 21 days
