Abstract

Proses gurdi merupakan proses pemesinan yang sering dilakukan pada industri manufaktur, seperti industri otomotif dan pesawat. Penentuan kombinasi variabel proses yang tidak tepat pada proses gurdi akan menghasilkan gaya tekan, torsi, kekasaran permukaan dan tingkat keausan pahat yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pengaturan variabel-variabel proses gurdi dengan teknik minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) yang tepat, sehingga dapat meminimalkan gaya tekan, torsi, kekasaran permukaan dan keausan tepi pahat. Suatu eksperimen telah dilakukan pada proses penggurdian material baja EMS-45 dengan MQL. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan berupa matriks ortogonal L18 (21 x 33) dan replikasi dua kali. Variabel atau faktor yang divariasikan adalah jenis pahat, sudut ujung pahat, kecepatan makan dan kecepatan spindel. Variasi jenis pahat memiliki dua level, sedangkan ketiga variabel yang lain memiliki tiga level. Optimasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Taguchi-grey relational analysis (GRA). Berdasarkan hasil eksperimen, variabel proses yang memberikan persen kontribusi terbesar untuk mengurangi variansi total dari respon gaya tekan, torsi, kekasaran permukaan dan keausan pahat secara serentak adalah variabel proses gerak makan sebesar 89,92%, diikuti oleh variabel proses kecepatan potong sebesar 0,54%. Pengaturan yang tepat untuk menurunkan respon secara serentak adalah jenis pahat menggunakan HSS-M2, sudut ujung pahat diatur pada 102°, gerak makan diatur pada 0,1 mm/rev dan kecepatan potong diatur pada 25 m/menit ============================================================================================= Drilling process is one of machining process which is often done in the manufacturing industry, such as automotive and aircraft industry. An improper combination of the variables drilling process will produce a higher thrust force, torque, surface roughness, and the wear of the cutting tools. Therefore, an adjustment of the variables of drilling process with a proper minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technique is needed, to minimize the thrust force, torque, surface roughness, and the flank wear of cutting tools. An experiment has been performed on the drilling process of steel EMS-45 material with MQL technique. The layout of the experiment used is L18 orthogonal matrix (21 x 33) with twice replication. The variables or factors that varied is the type of tools, the point angle of tools, feeding speed, and spindle speed. The variations in the type of tools has two levels, while the other three variables has three levels. The optimization is done by using the Taguchi-grey relational analysis (GRA) method. Based on the result of the experiment, the process variable that provide the greatest percent of contribution to reduce the total variance of the thrust force, torque, surface roughness, and tool wear response simultaneously is the feeding speed process variable at 89,92%, followed by the cutting speed process variable at 0,54%.
