Abstract

Stuck pipe is one of the most serious drilling problems, stuck pipe conditions can cost the oil industry up to hundreds of millions of dollars per year. One way to avoid the risk of being stuck in a pipe is to predict the state of a stuck pipe with the available drilling parameters. In this final project, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used for prediction of stuck pipes and is optimized using Duelist Algorithm (DA). Based on the drilling conditions of the PSCB, the variables obtained were first analyzed through the PCA-PLS method. In the first modeling there are 19 inputs while after removing the redundant variable on the PCA and selecting important variables in the PLS method using only variables that have VIP values above 0.5 there are 12 inputs this is because the less data used the easier it is to collect data . And the less data the easier it is to make a model. In this model, it is done by using 1 input layer which has 12 input nodes, 14 hidden layers trained by 1 to 30 hidden nodes, and 1 output layer in 14 hidden layers with a value of RMSE 0. At the end of the optimization the lowest cost is USD 17300 / hour at RPM 195, 69 and mud flow rate 722.28 GPM. And the condition of the construction is maintained in a condition that is not stuck.
