Abstract

Adsorpsi pewarna Remazol Brilliant Blue R dengan limbah peleburan aluminium hasil pelindian sebagai adsorben telah dilakukan. Limbah hasil peleburan aluminium mengandung aluminium dan beberapa logam berat dengan konsentrasi yang relatif tinggi. Proses pelindian limbah peleburan aluminium mengakibatkan kadar logam-logam pengotor seperti kalsium, besi, dan seng menurun namun tidak dengan aluminium sehingga kadar aluminium dalam limbah peleburan aluminium setelah pelindian meningkat dari 46,46% menjadi 52,90%. Limbah peleburan aluminium yang sebagian besar mengandung aluminium oksida digunakan untuk adsorpsi zat pewarna Remazol Brilliant Blue R. Proses adsorpsi dilakukan dengan metode batch pada variasi dosis adsorben 4-28 mg, waktu kontak 10-120 menit, konsentrasi awal 5-40 ppm, dan pH 4-10. Larutan hasil adsorpsi diukur absorbansinya dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang maksimum. Kondisi adsorpsi optimum pewarna Remazol Brilliant Blue R terjadi pada dosis adsorben 24 mg, waktu kontak 30 menit, konsentrasi awal 20 ppm, dan pH 9 dengan persentase removal sebesar 98,96%.

Adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R dye using leaching aluminum smelting as adsorbent has been investigated. Aluminum smelting waste contains aluminum and some heavy metals with relatively high concentrations. The aluminum smelting waste leaching process caused the content of impurity metals such as calcium, iron, and zinc are decreased but not with aluminum so that the aluminum content in the aluminum smelting waste after leaching increased from 46.46% to 52.90%. Aluminum smelting waste, which mainly contains aluminum oxide, is used for the adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R. The adsorption process in this study used a batch method with variations in the adsorbent dose of 4-28 mg, contact time of 10-120 minutes, initial concentration of 5-40 ppm, and pH of 4-10. The absorbance of adsorption solution was measure using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at maximum wavelength. Optimal adsorption conditions of Remazol Brilliant Blue R occurred at adsorbent dose of 24 mg, contact time of 30 minutes, initial concentration of 20 ppm and pH 9 with removal percentage of 98.96%.
