Abstract

Perbedaan kondisi lingkungan pada kawasan mangrove memungkinkan adanya perbedaan tingkat herbivori daun oleh serangga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan dan korelasi antara tingkat herbivori dan kandungan kimiawi daun Rhizophora apiculata pada habitus yang berbeda di Mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya dan Lembung Paseser Madura. Pengambilan sampel daun rusak dilakukan secara acak pada habitus pohon dan pancang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat herbivori secara signifikan lebih tinggi di mangrove Wonorejo dibanding Lembung Paseser (p=0,002). Kandungan metabolit sekunder pada daun yaitu, polifenol dan lignin lebih tinggi di mangrove Lembung Paseser daripada di Wonorejo (p=0,006 dan p=0,003). Sebaliknya kandungan nutrisi daun berupa air dan nitrogen secara signifikan lebih tinggi di mangrove Wonorejo (p=0,007 dan 0,0001) sedangkan kandungan serat kasar dan fosfor tidak berbeda signifikan di kedua lokasi (p=0,26). Tingkat herbivori di mangrove Wonorejo secara signifikan berkorelasi dengan kandungan daun polifenol (r=0,321; p=0,01), lignin (r=-0,277; p=0,04), serat kasar (r=0,547; p=0,0001), dan air (r=-0,365; p=0,036) sedangkan tingkat herbivori di Lembung Paseser secara signifikan berkorelasi dengan kandungan lignin (r=-0,285; p=0,036) dan nitrogen (r=-0,305; p=0,025).

The differences of environmental conditions on mangrove site sustain the difference of leaf herbivory level by insect. This study aimed to investigate the different and correlation between herbivory level and chemistry leaf contents of Rhizophora apiculata in different growing category and study site in Mangrove area of Wonorejo, Surabaya and Lembung Paseser, Madura. The samples of damaged leaf were taken randomly in trees and sapling that attacked by insect herbivore. This study shows that the herbivory level is significantly higher in the mangrove Wonorejo than Lembung Paseser (p=0.002). The leaf metabolite secondary content, polyphenol and lignin are significantly higher in mangrove Lembung Paseser than Wonorejo. Whereas the leaf nutrient content, water and nitrogen are significantly higher in mangrove Wonorejo (p=0.007 and 0.0001) while phosphorus and crude fiber content not significantly different in both sites (p=0.26). The herbivory level is significantly correlated to polyphenol (r=0.321, p=0.01), lignin (r=-0.277, p=0.04), crude fiber (r=0.547, p=0.0001), and water contents (r=-0.365, p=0.036) while herbiory level in Lembung Paseser is significantly correlated to lignin (r=-0.285, p=0.036) and nitrogen contents (r=-0.305, p=0.025).
