Abstract
Soekarno atau Bung Karno merupakan tokoh paling berjasa di Indonesia,
tapi banyak rakyat Indonesia yang tidak tahu perjalanan hidup bung Karno. Maka
untuk membangkitkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang bung Karno dibuatlah
novel grafis biografi bung Karno. Biografi ini akan dibagi menjadi 3 bagian, pada
bagian yang pertama ini dipilih judul masa kecil bung Karno. Buku ini ditujukan
untuk pembaca umur 17-25 tahun.
Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan metode
observasi. Data didapat dari 3 sumber; Studi literatur, analisa artefak dan
wawancara narasumber. Secara umum subjek penelitian dibagi menjadi 2 bagian
yaitu untuk konten objek dan konsep desain.. Konten objek meliputi penelitian
tentang sejarah, environment, dan visual. Sedang konsep desain meliputi
komunikasi, story telling, dan komponen visual. Studi komparator juga dilakukan
untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang novel grafis lain yang sudah diapresiasi.
Hasil keluaran dari riset yang dilakukan adalah timeline komprehensif
kehidupan bung Karno di masa kecil yang berikutnya di eksekusi menjadi novel
grafis. Novel grafis yang dikerjakan menggunakan gaya gambar yang tidak
komikal dan cenderung realis. Penggunaan panel lebih moderat, tidak terlalu
bebas atau kaku. Novel grafis ditampilkan berwarna, dan gaya bahasa yang
digunakan adalah ejaan tempo dulu.

Soekarno or Bung Karno is the most honored man in Indonesia, but a lot
of Indonesian people didn’t know about his journey of life. Thus, to arouse
people’s knowledge about Sukarno this biography graphic novel was made. This
biography will divide into 3 chapter of life, in this first chapter is chosen about
Sukarno’s childhood. This book made for 17-25 years old readers.
The approach that used in this research is observation methods. There is
3 source of this research; literature study, artifact analysis and interviewees.
Generally speak the subject of the research divide into 2 section that is; object
content and design concept. Those 2 subject is the main pillar of this graphic
novel. Object content contain a research about history of the subject, environment
and visual. In other hand design concept contain communication research, story
telling and visual component. Comparator study done to get a general view about
other graphic novel that had been appreciated.
The result from the research is a timeline of comprehensive life of Bung
Karno in the younger years which then executed into a graphic novel. The graphic
novel that has been done is using a style of drawing that is not comical and
leaning towards realist. The usage of panels is moderate; it is not too free nor too
rigid. The graphic novel is presented in colours and the language style that has
been used is ‘Ejaan Tempo Dulu’ style
