Abstract

Gresik Regency is a downstream area where the Bengawan Solo River flows and there is a Java Sea which carries a lot of sediment material to the coast. As a result, there is sedimentation which is forming an arising land that can become new land for mangrove growing.
This study analyzes changes in mangrove area due to sedimentation so that spatial information about changes in mangroves and suspended sediments in Gresik Regency during 2016-2019 uses Sentinel-2A satellite imagery data. Estimated suspended sediment concentration from remote sensing data is obtained using algorithms from Budhiman (2004), Parwati (2004), Jaelani (2015), and Laili (2015). Meanwhile, the mangrove area is obtained from the Maximum Likelihood Supervised Classification.
The results of this research indicate that the four algorithms do not meet the specified accuracy requirements so that a new empirical equation is created, that is TSS = 3,000,000 × exp (-34.71 × ((BOA reflectance of the green band)/(BOA reflectance of the red band))). Also, it is known that the most extensive addition occurred in the 2016-2017 period by 479,347 Ha and the largest reduction in the area occurred in the 2018-2019 period by 534,087 Ha. Based on the results of the analysis, the suspended sediment variable as sedimentation affects the mangrove variable by 64.9%. And there is a significant influence of sedimentation on changes in mangrove area in the significance level of 5% or 95% confidence level.
