Abstract

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) was developed as an atmospheric remote sensing system through the calculation of Zenith Tropospheric Delay (ZTD). One component of ZTD is Zenith Wet Delay (ZWD). ZWD is influenced by the water vapor content which makes it difficult to be modeled because the water vapor content is not well mixed so it depends on conditions in each region. Along with the development of CORS stations, it encourages research on ZTD with continuous data and good spatial resolution because the locations of CORS stations are spread evenly. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of spatial and temporal variations of ZWD in the East Java region.
The case study of this research is East Java Province using 16 CORS stations. In addition to CORS data, meteorological data from four stations belonging to BMKG in East Java are used as comparison data. ZTD and ZWD value calculations using GIPSY 6.4 software. ZWD value is visualized by gridding with the kriging method. The size of the grid is 0.25˚x0.25˚. The results of gridding will be analyzed based on spatial conditions. The analysis of temporal variation is based on the annual mean, time series decomposition, and periodogram.
ZWD correlation results from CORS and meteorological data show a strong relationship with the correlation coefficient of 0.712. The average trend value of 1,628 with a decreasing pattern. The characteristics of spatial and temporal variations of the ZWD value are influenced by several factors, including Asian and Australian monsoons which cause seasons global phenomena such as El Nino and La Nina, rainfall intensity, local meteorological conditions such as temperature and humidity, weather, and topography of the station.
