Abstract

In January 2019, the jetty at Holcim Private Port collapsed along the 200 m due to coal-loaded barges crashing into the jetty. The ruins of the jetty that fell to the seabed were cleaned for the purposes of building a new jetty at the same location. However, still found the rest of the jetty ruins on the seabed that obstruct the process of building a new jetty. Therefore, it is necessary to check the the seabed to determine the position of the jetty ruins that are still on the seabed. In addition to knowing the position of the collapse, checking the seabed also aims to identify the thickness and extent of the collapse.
In this study, measurement of the dimensions of the jetty ruins were carried out by hydrographic survey using a side-scan sonar (SSS) and seismic survey using a sub-bottom profiler (SBP). SBP data is used to measure the thickness of the jetty ruins, while the SSS data are used to analyze the distribution pattern of jetty ruins and calculate the extent of the collapse.
Based on the results of processing and analysis, obtained a model of the distribution of jetty ruins with a total collapse area of 1,668 m². There were 49 jetty ruins on the seabed with an average thickness of 0.8 m. In addition, there were also 14 ruins of the jetty beneath the seabed, with an average thickness of 1.25 m. Data generated from SBP and SSS both show that the majority of the jetty ruins are found in the center and the west side of the pier.
