Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a network artchitecture consisting of many nodes that work cooperatively to monitor large environment. Wireless sensor network consist of sensor nodes that are placed scattered in an area, and the base station as a collector of information from all nodes.
Nodes that run in the WSN environment operate using batteries, which means that energy at the node is very limited. Then the method needs to be made so that the node can operate longer even though the energy is very limited. One method that can be used is sleep scheduling.
In this final project, sensor nodes will be deployed on a grid-shaped area, and a mapping of the coverage area based on the grid has been made. That way it can be seen how much the coverage area of all nodes and any overlapping region. Sleep scheduling is optimized using genetic algorithm, with the aim of reducing energy consumption, reducing the range of overlapping nodes, but does not affect the overall node range.
