Abstract

ABSTRACT
============================================================
One form of urban settlement development aims to provide an inclusive built environment. Open space is part of the built environment which is a socially inclusive area for the community. The utilization of open space of inclusive urban
settlements is managed to be given freedom and responsibility by the community. This requires the concept of inclusive outdoor use. This study is focused on exploring the concept of inclusive use of outdoor space in urban settlements, both
by identifying patterns of use of space and finding the factors shaping inclusive space
This study uses a naturalistic paradigm with a qualitative strategy, namely a strategy that examines, understands, and interprets something in a natural setting. Qualitative data collection techniques using behavior mapping (behavior mapping), participatory observation, unstructured interviews and questionnaires as well as qualitative data analysis Spardley's model includes domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, component analysis and theme analysis.
The results found in this study are 1) outdoor space can be used by local and outside communities with the availability of publicly accessible activities; 2) the existence of communal community participation, both the involvement of external and internal parties can shape the ownership of inclusive outdoor space; 3) explore the concept of shared outdoor space as an inclusive outdoor space with open access, limited control and shared ownership.
