Abstract

The city of Surabaya has the highest level of activity and density according to data from the Central Statistics Agency of East Java Province. This situation results in the community not having time to exercise. Though exercise alone has many benefits both from physical and psychological health. In stimulating people to be interested in visiting sports facilities is to apply a biophilic design approach. Restoring the essence of human relations with nature can be a solution to increase enthusiasm in activities, especially sports in the context of the city of Surabaya, which is in dire need of natural elements. In biophilic theory, several elements can be used as design approaches, one of which is Natural Shapes and Forms. With the help of the application of the Environmental Perception theory, it will get specific elements or forms of nature, and following the interests of the people of Surabaya. The final result of the design using the force-based framework method is the schematic design of the fitness center design using the natural shapes and forms approach. The analogy method is used in transferring natural elements obtained from the results of interviews into architectural elements. The natural elements of the mountain and beach are symbolized as sports activities with attractive activities. While the element of water and nuances of the attractions of Batu, Malang as a representation of sports quiet activity. In addition to these natural elements, other natural elements are also analogous based on theoretical approaches, environmental requirements to the interior, exterior, and site design elements. So that as a whole the elements in the site can increase interest in sports and recover or recover health both physically and physically of its users.
