Abstract

Gliserol Monostearat (GMS) merupakan salah satu jenis surfaktan yang banyak diaplikasikan dalam industri kue. Selain itu, GMS juga banyak digunakan pada industri makanan sebagai thickener, preservative agent, emulsifying agent untuk makanan dan oil, waxes, dan solvent pada industri farmasi dan kosmetik, dan juga banyak digunakan dalam industri ploymer yaitu plastik, karet dan juga bahan pembuatan ban. Namun, banyaknya kebutuhan gliserol monostearate di Indonesia tidak didukung dengan pasokan gliserol monostearat yang mencukupi sehingga harus mengimpor seluruh kebutuhan dalam jumlah besar. Dari data Badan Pusat Statistik Indonesia, diketahui data impor GMS untuk Indonesia dari tahun 2013 hingga 2018 mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,079%/tahun, dimana pada tahun 2018 jumlah impor GMS sebesar 6.802.115 kg.
Proses pembuatan gliserol monostearate pada pabrik ini memiliki beberapa tahap: proses pre-treatment, esterifikasi disertai distilasi pertama, netralisasi, distilasi kedua, dan terakhir solidifikasi. Pabrik ini berlokasi di Kawasan Industri Gresik, Jawa Timur, dengan bahan baku yang diperoleh yaitu gliserol dari PT. Wilmar International (ltd), asam stearate dari PT. Wilmar International (ltd), asam fosfat dari PT. Petrokimia Gresik, dan natrium hidroksida dari PT. Asahimas Chemical. Pabrik direncanakan memiliki kapasitas 4990 ton/tahun. Sehingga hasil pabrik ini dapat memenuhi 50% kebutuhan gliserol monostearate dalam negeri. Pendirian pabrik ini menggunakan data investasi yang berasal dari modal sendiri sebesar 40% dan modal pinjaman sebesar 60% dari biaya investasi dengan bunga 9,85%. Dari Analisa ekonomi, didapatkan hasil investasi sebesar 269,654,410,126, IRR 19,65%, POT 6,52 tahun, BEP 35,04% dan period of construction selama 24 bulan. Berdasarkan analisa BEP, POT, dan IRR, pabrik Gliserol Monostearat ini layak untuk didirikan.

Glycerol Monostearate (GMS) is a type of surfactant that is widely applied in the baking industry. In addition, GMS is also widely used in the food industry as a thickener, preservative agent, emulsifying agent for food and oil, waxes, and solvents in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, and widely used in the ploymer industry, namely plastics, rubber and tire manufacturing materials. However, the large demand for glycerol monostearate in Indonesia is not supported by an adequate supply of glycerol monostearate, so it needs to import GMS in large quantities. Based on Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics data, it is known that GMS import data for Indonesia from 2013 to 2018 has increased by 0.079% / year, where in 2018 the number of GMS imports was 6,802,115 kg.
The process of making glycerol monostearate or GMS is divided into four main process stages such as pre-treatment process, esterification process, purification process, and Solidification process. This factory is located in the Gresik Industrial Estate, East Java, with the raw material, namely glycerol from PT. Wilmar International (ltd), stearic acid from PT. Wilmar International (ltd), phosphoric acid from PT. Petrokimia Gresik, and sodium hydroxide from PT. Asahimas Chemical. The plant is planned to have a capacity of 4990 tons / year. This capacity can meet 50% of the domestic demand for glycerol monostearate. The establishment of this factory uses investment data that comes from individual capital at 40% and loan capital at 60% of the investment cost with an interest of 9.85%. From the economic analysis, the investment yields were 269,654,410,126, IRR 19.65%, POT 6.52 years, BEP 35.04% and a period of construction for 24 months. Based on the analysis of BEP, POT, and IRR, this Glycerol Monostearate factory is feasible to be established.
