Abstract

=========================================================

The background of this research is the occurrence of transition that occurs in the product purchasing system between PT Trafo and PT P, which is the main customer for the company. The condition faced by PT Trafo is the replacement of purchasing system with PT P, from contract purchasing to market place system. This is considered a threat by management to the company's position in the market due to; (1) Triggering demand uncertainty caused by the reduced purchasing procedure, (2) Information of PT Trafo's performance becomes transparent by the rating feature that is provided, (3) Presence of stock tracking feature which is not yet a major concern for PT Trafo as a make-to-order company. In responding to this case the company needs recommendations in the perspective of managing inventory and production (replenishment), in accordance with condition that occurs in purchasing activities.
The recommendations designed in this study are the management of inventory and finished goods replenishment by determining the optimal inventory level (safety stock and reorder level) and the calculation of Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) for each product as replenishment rate. After that, the result will be tested by conducting discrete event simulation based on a continuous-review inventory control system in order to get the best results taking into account the demand that occurs.
The result of data processing, (s, Q) system choosen as the most applicable control system. Furthermore, through the recommendations of safety stock, reorder level, and EPQ proposed by this research shown an increase in accession on the two parameters measured. Those parameters are the percentage of punctuality (86,23%) and service level (99,28%).
