Abstract

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) are vehicles that use two or more different power sources to move. Hybrid technology has now been applied to four-wheeled motorized vehicles. Meanwhile, for two-wheeled motorized vehicles such as motorbikes, hybrid technology is still rarely applied. In a hybrid vehicle, the dissipated kinetic energy can be stored by using a regenerative brake system, where the electric motor is turned into a generator and then stored in the battery. Research on regenerative brake systems on motorbikes is still very rarely done, therefore this final project will research the performance analysis of regenerative brakimg systems on hybrid motorbikes.
In this research, there are two main steps, the first is the calculation step and the second is the analysis step of the force and portion size, contribution, and efficiency of the regenerative brake system. For the calculation step, the drag forces acting on the vehicle, the power and energy of the braking that can be stored based on the driving cycle WMTC class 1 and WMTC class 2 are calculated. Furthermore, for the analysis phase, the results obtained in the previous calculation step will be analyzed.
From this research, it was found that the magnitude of the mechanical brake system and the regenerative brake system on a hybrid motorcycle with a j/g value of 0.3 were 139,09 N and 266,31 N. The portions of mechanical and regenerative braking obtained with a j/g value of 0.3 were 0.060 and 0.114. The contribution of the regenerative brake system to the power requirements of the vehicle is 33.194% in the WMTC class 1 driving cycle and 29.504% in the WMTC class 2 driving cycle, respectively. The efficiency of the regenerative brake system with WMTC class 1 driving cycle is 23.535% and with WMTC class 2 driving cycle is 31.98%.
