Abstract

=========================================================

Adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R synthetic dyes for batik with adsorbents bidara arab’s leaf (Ziziphus spina-christi) was carbonized has been carried out. Batik dyes when discharged directly into waterways can cause environmental pollution so it must be treated before being discharged to reduce its concentration. The adsorption method is one of the effective methods in reducing the concentration of Remazol Brilliant Blue R. batik. Some parameters studied in this study are variations in contact time (10, 20, 30, 40, 45 and 50 minutes), variations in the mass of adsorbent (20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 mg), variations in initial concentration (30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100 and 110 ppm) and variations in the pH of the solution (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12). The adsorption results are measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at maximum wavelength of 595 nm. The optimum conditions of adsorption were obtained at 45 minutes contact times, mass of adsorbent 45 mg, initial concentration of solution of 100 ppm and at pH 1 with % decolorization respectively 91,11%; 83,92%; 83,71% dan 98,94%. The adsorption method applied produces a maximum %decolorization of 99.57% with a maximum adsorption capacity of 49,68 mg/ g. This study using a Freundlich isotherm type with R2 value of 0.9943.
