Abstract

As time goes by, ongoing research is carried out to obtain more optimal and more environmentally friendly fuels, the researchers make a new breakthrough namely green diesel fuel. Green diesel is a fuel derived from vegetable oil, and through a hydrotreating process to separate the oxygen content in the oil. The characteristics of green diesel fuel are better than diesel fuel in general. In terms of performance, green diesel fuel is also better than diesel fuel. This research focuses on the combustion process and emission levels produced by green diesel fuel. Data testing was carried out at 2200 RPM and with an engine load of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. From the simulation results, it is known that green diesel fuel produces a higher combustion pressure and temperature compared to B30 biodiesel. This affects the resulting NOx emission levels, because NOx is formed from high temperatures and combustion pressures. NOx levels produced by green diesel fuel are higher than B30 biodiesel.
