Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on textiles that were synthesized using the Mikania micrantha extract. Several properties, such as plasmonic, shape, size, biomolecule bonding, and antifungal, were investigated. The plasmonic properties of the synthesized AGNPs were characterized and analyzed using Ultraviolet-visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, whereas the morphology of textiles AgNPs and their presence were identified using the field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to investigate Functional groups on the produced AgNPs. Inhibition zone measurement was performed for evaluating the antifungal capability of textiles AgNPs. This study showed that the attached AgNPs to various types of textiles such as on cotton, cotton-polyester, silk, and fiber without using a binder or other chemical compounds had been successfully demonstrated with their antifungal capability.
