Abstract

==================================================================================
Net pay is a parameter used to determine the volume of hydrocarbon reserves. The determination of these parameters is carried out in Field “P” (consisting of wells NP 1, NP 2, P 1, P 2 and P 3 ) which located at the Talang Akar Formation (main target reservoir of the South Sumatra Basin). To estimate net pay, three petrophysical parameters (shale volume, porosity, and water saturation) as well as layer boundary information are needed from the well log data. The determination of this boundary layer is automatically identified using Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) method on gamma-ray data. The results obtained are compared with the mud log data. This comparison shows that CWT analysis is sufficiently accurate in identifying the boundary or number of layers from the well log data, especially when not involving thin layers. The number of layers for each well (NP 1, NP 2, P 1, P 2 and P 3) are 168, 192, 30, 11 and 312, respectively. In addition, the shale volume values for each well are 63%, 47%, 63%, 40% and 47%, respectively, the porosity values are 5%, 19% , 7%, 7% and 10%, while the water saturation value of Indonesia (SW I) are 37%, 89%, 42%, 29% and 43%, respectively. Furthermore, the cut off value for the three petrophysical parameters is calculated to determine the threshold between the reservoir zone and the non-reservoir zone. The cut-off values for each parameter (Vshale, porosity, and SW I) are 50%, 10%, and 60%, respectively. Thus, the net pay generated for each well is 24.5 ft, 64.38 ft, 25.75 ft, 17.5 ft, and 356.13 ft, respectively. The net pay estimation results are sufficiently accurate and match the well report.
