Abstract

Human bone implantation in General is still using stainless steel or SS 316L which is classified as hard to reach because the price is relatively high for the purchasing power capacity of middle category society lower. Therefore, Another alternative material is the low carbon steel ST 41 that can be fabricated in bulk. The study aims to determine the difference in the corrosion rate of the results of the polarisation (NiCr) and Titanium nitride (TiN) of the low carbon steel ST 41 that is soaked in the Simulated Body Fluid solution (SBF) with the stainless steel SS 316L.
Methods used to determine the difference in corrosion rate using T test. The limitations of this research issue use secondary data from previous research due to pandemic COVID-19.
The results of this study showed that The metal test material of the St 41 NiCr and the St 41 TiN coating had an average of the same corrosion rate when it was soaked for 12 hours, 240 hours and 360 hours, thedifference was at immersion 168 hours where the St 41 NiCr coating proved to give a greater corrosion rate time than the St 41 TiN coating. Metal Test materials of ST 41 NiCr and TiN coatings, both provide the same results as stainless steel material or the good SS 316L which is soaked for 12 hours, 168 hours, 240 hours and 336 hours.
