Abstract

Teknik cetak cukil adalah salah satu cabang seni grafis, teknik ini dahulu sempat pergejolak di awal berdirinya Republik indonesia, namun, karena teknik ini dijadikan sebagai alat propaganda paham komunisme, Perlahan lahan teknik karya seni ini mulai dijauhi dan tidak dikenal oleh masyarakat umum. Penulis merasa karena semakin sedikitnya gaung dari cukil ini, semakin susahlah mencari buku literatur dan panduan bagi orang yang memang berminat di bidang ini sendiri, dan dengan disusunnya buku ini diharapkan orang awam akan kembali tahu dan mengenal dan merubah pradigma yang melihat bahwa cukil merupakan sebuah media propaganda.
Di dalam konten buku ini, penulis memasukkan berbagai pengetahuan yang dimiliki oleh penulis yang dinilai mampu bermanfaat dalam mengenalkan sekaligus menjadi buku petunjuk bagi orang – orang atau para penghobi yang tertarik dalam seni bidang cukil ini. Pengetahuan itu meliputi pengenalan, alat –alat yang diperlukan, sejarah teknik cukil, dan panduan dalam membuat karya cukil.
Hasil dari penulisan buku ini, penulis mendapati bahwa masih cukup banyak orang yang tertarik dalam mempelajari teknik cukil karena selain teknik ini terbilang cukup unik dan memiliki nilai jual yang cukup tinggi, teknik ini juga lumayan cukup mudah untuk dipelajari oleh orang awam.

Woodcut technique is one of the branch from one of many art technique in Indonesia, this technique once was one of the mostly used techniques during the establishment of Republic of Indonesia. But, since this technique was used as a media of propaganda to spread communism, this technique began to be shunned and forgotten by the publics. Due to that reason, writer believed that since woodcut technoque was no longer known by publics, it is quite difficult to find reference books that can introduce this technique. By designing this book, The writer believed that it is possible to change the negative paradigm that exist within woodcut and re-introduce woodcut to the public.
As a content of this book, the writer were including most of the knowledge he has about woodcut that he believe can serve as an introduction and a guidance that can make public become interested or gain the interest of other enthusiasts in woodcut. The knowledge that were included in this book are introductions to woodcut, necessary tools, history of woodcut, and how-to guide in woodcutting.
By making the book and conducting the research, the writer realised that there were still a lot of people that were interested in learning woodcut because not only woodcut has high artistical value, this technique was considered as easy to learn by novices.
