Pemodelan dan simulasi terhadap mobil Sapu Angin 7 telah dilakukan untuk mendapatkan metode berkendara yang paling hemat bahan bakar. Namun, dalam pemodelan ini karakteristik engine masih berasal dari data engine standart. Selain itu, nilai koefisien rolling resistance roda dan koefisien drag juga masih dianggap konstan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperbaiki model mobil Sapu Angin supaya lebih mendekati kenyataan. Perbaikan dilakukan dengan memperbaiki pemodelan karakteristik engine, model nilai rolling resistance pada roda, dan drag coefficient.
Dalam penelitian ini akan dikembangkan model mobil Sapu Angin 8. Data masukan karakteristik engine termodifikasi akan diperoleh dengan cara pengujian dynamometer pada engine. Selain itu, penambahan model koefisien rolling resistance dan drag kendaraan akan dibuat bervariasi terhadap perubahan kecepatan. Pemodelan dan simulasi mobil Sapu Angin 8 akan dibuat dengan bantuan software SIMULINK Mat Lab.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan perubahan koefisien drag dan rolling resistance yang dibuat bervariasi terhadap kecepatan menyebabkan perubahan gaya tahanan. Perubahan nilai koefisien drag menyebabkan naiknya gaya tahanan, sedangkan perubahan nilai koefisien rolling resistance menyebabkan turunnya gaya tahanan.Walaupun modifikasi engine yang telah dilakukan didapatkan kenaikan torsi tetapi juga terjadi kenaikan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik. Modifikasi ini tidak lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan engine standart

Modeling and simulation of Sapu Angin 7 has been done to get most fuel-efficient drive method. However, engine characteristic data in this model is derived from standard data of the engine. In addition, the rolling resistance coefficient of wheels and coefficient of drag still be considered constant. This study aims to improve Sapu Angin model to get closer to its reality. Improvements carried out by improving the modeling engine characteristics, the model values on the wheel rolling resistance, and drag coefficient.
In this study, Sapu Angin 8 car model will be developed. Modified engine characteristic input data will be obtained by doing a dynamometer test of the engine. Furthermore, the drag coefficient and rolling resistance of vehicles in the model will be varied to speed changes. Modeling and simulation of Sapu Angin 8 will be made by using Mat Lab SIMULINK software.
The results showed that variation of drag coefficient to the speed changes causes a higher resistance force, while variation of rolling resistance coefficient to the speed changes causes a lower resistance force. Even though modified engine resulted in higher torque in lower rpm but it also increased the engine sfc. Therefore it was concluded that original engine setting is still better than the modified one.
