Abstract

Current direction of technology development has led to an alternative to the traditional/fixed breakwater using the floating system. Through this research, experimental tests have been carried out to obtain the analysis result of the transmission coefficient (Kt) and reflection coefficient (Kr) of floating breakwater due to variations in the slope and porosity. The variations of the slope are 45 ° and 60 °, while the variations of the porosity are 0% and 5%. Experiments were carried out on a 2-dimensional wave flume with a water depth of 75 cm, using regular waves with variations in wave height between 5 and 12.5 cm and wave period between 1.1 to 2 seconds. The experimental test used 5 models: (1) pontoon, (2) slope with angle of 45 ° pore 0% and (3) pore 5%, then (4) slope with angle of 60° pore 0% and (5) pore 5%. The experimental results show that the transmission waves are getting smaller with a gentle slope and non-porous structure. Meanwhile, the reflection waves are getting smaller with a gentle slope and porous structure.
