Abstract

Papua is one of the islands located at the eastern tip of Indonesia. Papua has various types of arts and culture in the form of traditional dances, traditional clothes, traditional houses, and many more. The importance of introducing artistic and cultural identities to the community so that the existence of Papuan arts and culture is not lost to the times.
The site is located in the city of Sorong, West Papua with many traditional dance communities consisting of Papuan youths, one of which is the Nani Billi Art Studio. However, the enthusiasm of these young people is not supported by adequate facilities, facilities and infrastructure to support the preservation of traditional Papuan dances.
The traditional Papuan dance community center building is designed to accommodate artistic and cultural activities such as traditional dance training, performing traditional dances, making souvenirs from Papua, making clothes and typical Papuan musical instruments.
The design of the traditional Papuan dance center building uses the Metaphor Architecture approach. This approach is used to analogize the form of traditional Papuan musical instruments, Papuan traditional dance movements, and the attributes of supporting Papuan traditional dances into building designs. Its application can be seen in the roof shape, structure and amphithater design.
The presence of the traditional Papuan dance community center building is expected to be a forum, facilities, facilities and infrastructure for the community and community of Sorong City in preserving Papuan arts and culture, especially traditional dance.
