Abstract

Capitalism has close connection with Architecture but its’ existence corrupt and inhibit the progressivity of an ideal utopian for humanity on social aspects. Henri Lefebvre, a philosopher and sociologist, has a theory which says about space and that the means of it as a labor tool owned by the public, thus Public Space plays a major role in social welfare. Pasar Turi Zone is one of the places that have a major background history that can relate to it, the history of Pasar Turi that brings prosperity in East Java as a market but now it’s neglected. The complexity of its’ problems centers around the failure of designing the new building that was renovated due to a big fire accident. In this case therefore, urban renewal is needed because of its’ impact on city scale, by a redevelopment to brings prosperity back into it’s place as it was before.
Within the process of redevelopment, Concept-based framework will be needed to help to implement hypothesis that derived from Lefebvre theory to enhance the meaning of space as social catalysts, Contextualism as a method to help translate the context value of a market and the connection to the cityscape, and Superimposition to help integrate the complexity of the problems that Pasar Turi have. The schematic give a response to give a bigger portion of the Public Space, to help restore open green spaces with secondary functions of Market and Transportation Nodes. The concept brings Space as a Social Catalysts, Formal & Spatial Flexibility, Extension of the Public Sphere, Integrated Open-plan & Connectivity, dan Elevated Green-Park as criteria designs.

Kapitalisme memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan Arsitektur namun keberadaannya mengorupsi dan menghambat progresivitas menuju keadaan yang utopis untuk bersama. Henri Lefebvre, seorang filsuf serta ahli sosiologis memiliki gagasan akan kebermilikan ruang, dimana ruang sejatinya merupakan alat produksi bersama, sehingga ruang publik memiliki peran penting terhadap kesejahteraan sosial. Kawasan Pasar Turi merupakan salah satu kawasan yang memiliki latar belakang dengan permasalahan tersebut, dengan sejarah yang cukup jaya hingga kondisinya yang terbengkalai sekarang. Kompleksitas permasalahan yang cukup rumit berakar pada kesalahan dalam perancangan Gedung Pasar Turi Baru sebagai bentuk pemulihan Gedung pasca kebakaran besar. Dengan ini maka perlu dilakukan peremajaan ruang kota pada kawasan Pasar Turi dalam tahap redevelopment dengan harapan dapat menghidupkan kembali serta meminimalisir permasalahan yang ada.
Dalam melakukan proses redevelopment, menggunakan kerangka berpikir Concept-based Framework untuk membantu menerapkan hipotesis turunan dari gagasan Lefebvre memaknai ruang sebagai Katalis Sosial, menggunakan metode Contextualism untuk menterjemahkan konteks value kawasan, dan metode Superimposition untuk mengintegrasi kompleksitas permasalahan menjadi output rancang yang optimal. Hasil kajian analisa menanggapi bahwa kawasan tersebut akan lebih baik jika diperuntukkan untuk Ruang Publik, terutama dikarenakan minimnya Ruang Terbuka Hijau dengan fungsi sekunder sebagai Pasar dan Halte Simpul Transportasi. Demi optimalisasi konsep rancang, menghasilkan beberapa kriteria antara lain, Space as Social Catalysts, Formal & Spatial Flexibilty, Extension of the Public Sphere, Integrated Open-plan & Connectivity, dan Elevated Green-Park.
