Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat fisis, mekanis, dan morfologi komposit serat pisang abaka dengan matrik semi logam. Pada penelitian ini digunakan beberapa variasi, yaitu variasi fraksi volume serat yakni 5%, 10%, dan 15%, variasi alkalisasi asam asetat yakni 34%, 44% dan 51%, dan variasi orientasi serat yakni longitudinal dan transversal. Pengujian yang dilakukan antara lain pengujian densitas, pengujian tarik, dan pengujian morfologi. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alkalisasi asam asetat menyebabkan penurunan sifat fisis, mekanis, dan morfologi serat. Dari analisa sifat fisis didapatkan densitas serat yang menurun. Dari analisa sifat mekanis didapatkan kuat tarik dan modulus elastisitas serat yang menurun, dengan elongasi maksimum serat yang meningkat. Dari analisa morfologi didapatkan permukaan serat yang semakin halus, dengan struktur serat yang semakin lemah. Hal tersebut mempengaruhi sifat fisis, mekanis, dan morfologi komposit. Dari analisa sifat fisis diperoleh densitas komposit yang semakin menurun. Dari analisa sifat mekanis diperoleh kekuatan mekanik longitudinal yang menurun, sedangkan kekuatan mekanik transversal meningkat. Dari analisa morfologi diperoleh diameter filler yang semakin kecil dan struktur filler yang mudah rusak. Pengaruh alkalisasi asam asetat juga menyebabkan penurunan ikatan antar muka matrik dan serat. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan pengaruh fraksi volume filler terhadap sifat fisis, mekanis, dan morfologi komposit. Dari analisa sifat fisis diperoleh densitas komposit yang menurun, sementara porositas komposit meningkat. Dari analisa sifat mekanis diperoleh kekuatan mekanik longitudinal yang meningkat, sedangkan kekuatan mekanik transversal menurun. Dari analisa morfologi diperoleh jarak antar filler yang semakin kecil.

This study aims to determine the physical, mechanical, and morphological properties of the abaca banana fibre composite with a semi-metal matrix. Several variations were used, variations in filler volume fraction by 5%, 10%, and 15%, variations in alkali treatment of acetic acid by 34%, 44% and 51%, and variations in fibre orientation including longitudinal and transverse. The tests carried out include density, tensile, and morphological testing. The results showed that alkali treatment of acetic acid caused a decreasing in the physical, mechanical, and morphological properties of the fibres. On physical properties, the fibre density decreased. On mechanical properties, the tensile strength and elastic modulus of the fibres decreased, with the maximum fibre elongation increased. On morphological, the fibre surface was getting smoother, with a weaker fibre structure. This affects the physical, mechanical, and morphological properties of composites. On physical properties, the density of the composite was decreased. On mechanical properties, the longitudinal mechanical strength decreased, while the transverse mechanical strength increased. On morphological, filler diameter was getting smaller and the filler structure was easily damaged. The effect of alkali treatment of acetic acid also caused decreasing in the interfacial bond between matrix and fibres. The results also showed the effect of the filler volume fraction on the physical, mechanical, and morphological properties of the composites. On physical properties, the density of the composite decreased, while the porosity of the composite increased. On mechanical properties, the longitudinal mechanical strength increased, while the transverse mechanical strength decreased. On morphological, the distance between fillers is getting smaller.
