Abstract

The Sorong Special Economic Zone (KEK) is an area prepare to maximize industrial activities, exports, imports, and other economic activities that have high economic value in Sorong Regency. Fulfilling the need for electrical energy in the Sorong KEK area is carried out by build a PLTU. The background of this research is the need for groundwater resources in the PLTU development area in the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Sorong Regency. This study aims to identify the nature of rocks to water, in addition to identifying the types of aquifers and aquifer characteristics in the form of depth and thickness of the aquifer as well as the direction of groundwater flow in the study area. This study uses resistivity geoelectric data and drills data as validation. The geoelectric method is a geophysical method to determine the rock structure using the earth's electrical properties. The geoelectric method used uses the VES technique, this method is a 1-D geoelectric method which can see changes in the apparent resistance value at one point. The configuration used is the Schlumberger configuration. The results of the VES interpretation were modeled in 3D using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) gridding method to determine the shape of the aquifer. The measurement points used are 7 points, each point has a path length of 400m. The results showed 2 layers of aquiclude at a depth of 8.5-41 m and 110.9-132 m which had clay lithology, and 2 aquifer layers that had sandstone lithology. 2 types of aquifers in the study area, the first is free aquifer with lithology in the form of sandstone with a depth of 0.32-8.54 m and a thickness of 8.22 m. The free aquifer is indicated to contain saltwater from seawater intrusion with a resistivity value of 0.337-0.977 Ohm.m. The second aquifer is a confined aquifer with sandstone lithology flanked by layers of clay rock with a depth of 41-110.9 m and a thickness of 59.9 m. Confined aquifers are indicated to contain freshwater with a resistivity value of 10.1-10.9 Ohm.m. The direction of groundwater flow is estimated from east to west.
