Abstract
Pembuatan pahat friction stir welding pada tugas akhir kali ini dikembangkan dari beberapa penelitian sebelumnya. Konsep desain ini dikembangkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan proses pengelasan pada body kereta api di PT INKA (Persero). Sejak didirikannya PT INKA (Persero) pada 18 mei 1981 hingga kini, PT INKA Indonesia telah merancang dan membuat berbagai macam produk kereta api yang dimanfaatkan untuk membantu proses transportasi baik dalam kota maupun luar kota. Proses pembuatan kereta ini memerlukan beberapa alat pendukung, yang salah satunya adalah alat las. Alat las tersebut diperlukan pada proses penyambungan di bagian body kereta api.
Pada awal penelitian dilakukan proses yang diperlukan untuk membuat pahat FSW, yang meliputi penentuan material, proses permesinan, dan pembuatan pahat. Geometri dan dimensi untuk pembuatan pahat ini didapatkan dengan mengikuti data acuan dari beberapa jurnal yang sudah ada terkait friction stir welding. Pengembangan ini difokuskan untuk mendapatkan pahat yang tidak mudah aus dan mampu menghasilkan hasil lasan yang baik. Setelah pembuatan pahat selesai, dilakukan proses pemeriksaan pada dimensi pahat FSW. Proses pengukuran pada pahat ini meliputi pengukuran panjang, diameter dan sudut bahu cekung dari pahat tersebut. Untuk alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian kali ini adalah jangka sorong, height gauge, mikroskop profil, dan pengolahan gambar menggunakan solidworks.
Dari rancang bangun pahat friction stir welding ini, diperoleh geometri dan dimensi pada pahat silinder meruncing yang dibuat menggunakan parameter diameter shoulder 12 mm, rasio antara pin dan shoulder 2,5, sudut bahu cekung 3°.Kemudian dari proses pemeriksaan geometri pahat dengan prinsip mal ukur, didapatkan bahwa rata-rata pahat yang dibuat sudah cukup sesuai bentuknya dengan desain yang direncanakan.

The making of tool friction stir welding in this final project was developed from several previous studies. This design concept was developed to answer the needs of the welding process on the train body at PT INKA (Persero). Since the establishment of PT INKA (Persero) on May 18 1981 until now, PT INKA Indonesia has designed and manufactured various train products that are used to assist the transportation process both within the city and outside the city. The process of making this train requires several supporting tools, one of which is a welding tool. The welding tool is required in the connection process on the train body.
At the beginning of the research, the processes needed to make FSW tool were carried out, which included determining the material, machining processes, and making tool. The geometry and dimensions for tool’s making are obtained by following reference data from several existing journals related to friction stir welding. This development is focused on getting tool that are not easily worn and are capable of producing good welding spesiment. After the tool’s making is complete, an inspection process is carried out on the FSW tool dimensions. The process of measuring the tool includes measuring the length, diameter and angle of the concave shoulders of the tool. The measuring instruments used in this research are calipers, height gauges, profile microscopes, and image processing using solidworks.
From the friction stir welding tool design, the geometry and dimensions of the tapered cylindrical tool used in this project are 12 mm shoulder diameter, 2.5 pin to shoulder ratio, 3 ° concave shoulder angle. Then from the process of checking the tool geometry with the principle of measuring mall, it is found that the average tool that is made is sufficient in accordance with the shape with the planned design.
