Abstract

Holothuroidea (teripang) adalah organisme yang berperan penting sebagai spesies kunci dalam ekosistem laut dan juga menjadi komoditas budidaya perikanan unggulan yang bernilai ekonomis. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman spesies teripang yang ada di Jawa Timur, yaitu di Pantai Tawang Pacitan (TAW), Pasir Putih Situbondo (PAS) dan Labuhan Bangkalan (LAB). Koleksi teripang dilakukan pada tiga unit transek sabuk di area intertidal di setiap lokasi pada saat air laut surut dalam dua kali periode sampling. Identifikasi spesimen teripang berdasarkan karakter morfologi dan tipe spikula. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan indeks perhitungan indeks Shannon-Wiener (H’). Pada ketiga lokasi teridentifikasi 17 spesies dimana pada setiap lokasi terdapat jumlah spesies dan kelimpahan yang berbeda. Pada TAW terdapat 15 spesies dan 89 individu, pada PAS sejumlah 13 spesies dan 90 individu sedangkan pada LAB sejumlah 5 spesies dan 47 individu. Nilai rata-rata H’ di TAW sebesar 2,046-2,058 sedangkan di PAS sebesar 1,629-1,937 atau termasuk kategori keanekaragaman ‘sedang’; nilai H’ di LAB sebesar 0,735-0,863 atau termasuk dalam tingkat keanekaragaman ‘rendah’.

Holothuroidea (sea cucumber) play important role as a key species in the marine ecosystem and also as a leading aquaculture commodity with high economic value due to its nutritional content. This study aimed to understand the diversity of sea cucumber in East Java, namely from Tawang Beach (TAW) of Pacitan, Pasir Putih Beach (PAS) of Situbondo and Labuhan Beach (LAB) of Bangkalan. Specimens of Holothuroidea collected from three units of belt transect in intertidal area during low tide in two sampling periods at each location, then identified based on the morphological characteristics and types of spicules. The data obtained then analyzed using descriptive-quantitative approach with the Shannon-Wiener’s diversity index (H'). The results showed that at least 17 species of sea cucumbers were identified, with each location contains different species richness and abundance. In TAW there were 89 individuals from 15 species, in PAS there were 90 individuals from 13 species while in LAB we collected 47 individuals from 5 species. The average values of H’ in TAW was 2,046-2,058 while in PAS was 1,629-1,937 or categorized as ‘moderate diversity’. Diversity of Holothuroidea in LAB was considered ‘low’ with the values of H’ ranged from 0,735-0,863.
