Abstract

Waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus) was a herbs that contains secondary metabolites bioactive compounds such as saponins, alkaloids, and flavonoids so that it can be used as a bioinsecticide. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the liquid bioinsecticide formulation from the active ingredient of hibiscus leaves against the attack of Spodoptera litura F. larvae on pakcoy (Brassica chinensis) plants. The method used for leaf extraction is the maceration method with 96% ethanol. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 repetitions consisting of extract concentrations of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% using the leaf dipping method in the preliminary test, while in the follow-up test using the leaf basting method with the concentrations of 0%, 35%, 40%, 45%, 50%, and 55%. The results of the observational data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA with Duncan's follow-up test and the LC50 value was analyzed by probit analysis. The results showed that the liquid bioinsecticide formulation of waru leaf extract affected the attack of Spodoptera litura larvae on pakcoy plants with the most effective concentration being the extract concentration of 45%. The characteristics of dead larvae after exposure to bioinsecticides are hardened larval bodies, brown to blackish in color, and shrunken bodies.
