Abstract

=========================================================
In December 2019, the outbreak in Wuhan was caused by a new coronavirus known as 2019-nCoV. WHO declared this disease referred to as COVID-19 and a pandemic. Transmission of this virus can occur in the form of droplets or in the air (airborne). One of the measures to reduce the number of fatalities is to reduce the rate of transmission of the virus. Patients exposed to COVID- 19 must be isolated to prevent transmission to others. An isolation room is designed to ensure protection from all methods of transmission. The most dominant mode of infection is airborne transmission which is handled by appropriate heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) systems. Broadly speaking, there are two classes of isolation rooms, namely class N which has negative pressure, and class P which has positive pressure. The isolation room with negative pressure is suitable for patients suffering from infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis and SARS. The purpose of placing infected patients in negative pressure rooms is to reduce airborne disease transmission.
This study uses a three-dimensional numerical study method using Gambit 2.4 software in the geometry and meshing design process which is then used ANSYS Fluent 19.1 in the analysis process. The test object used is an isolation room with one inlet and one outlet with variations in the configuration of one bed and two beds. The variation of the pressure difference at the outlet

is -2.5 Pa, -5 Pa, -8 Pa, and -15 Pa. The mesh used is a structured hexahedral-map type with a total of 1.3 million cells. The fluid used is air at a temperature of 24˚C at a pressure of 1 ATM with an air exchange rate of 12 ACH. The turbulence viscous model used is k- ε standard with a convergence criterion of 10-5.
The results obtained are variations in the pressure value at the outlet showing a similar trend on the speed and temperature comparison chart. The -15 Pa variation shows almost uniform pressure distribution with outlet pressure so that the -15 Pa variation is the best pressure difference. The configuration of the room or the position of the bed affects the characteristics of the air flow in the isolation room. The isolation room with a two-bed configuration is less certain because it has a dangerous eddy flow that is right above the bed near the inlet. The average speed, temperature, and pressure that occur on the bed are still within the safe limits of the patient's breathing
