Abstract
Petani sorgum di Tembelang Jombang saat ini masih menggunakan cara manual dalam mengayak tepung sorgum. Dampaknya, hasil pengayakan tepung sorgum masih meninggalkan masalah yaitu kehalusan dari tepung sorgum sendiri masih kasar dan belum sesuai standart. Dari permasalahan tersebut dirancang mesin pengayak tepung sorgum dengan menggunakan sistem goncang horizontal
Proses pembuatan mesin diawali dari merancang desain mesin dan mekanisme saringan pengayak. Kemudian dilakukan perhitungan, dimulai dengan mencari gaya dan daya yang terdapat pada sistem transmisi dan menghitung perencanaan poros, pasak dan bearing. Setelah pembuatan mesin kemudian melakukan pengujian mengenai kapasitas.
Dari hasil perhitungan dan uji coba mesin, didapatkan data yaitu daya dan gaya yang dihasilkan sebesar 0,28 kW dan 12,1 Kgf serta daya perencanaan sebesar 0,55 kW. Bahan poros yang digunakan standar baja AISI 1117 dengan diameter 25mm, bahan pasak yaitu standart bajan 1117 dengan lebar 6,25 dan panjang 4,16, serta bearing tipe single row ball bearing dengan prediksi umur bearing A = 23295233 jam kerja dan prediksi umur bearing B = 46455387 jam kerja. Setelah dilakukan percobaan, didapatkan hasil ayakan tepung mencapai 42,75 kg/jam.

Sorghum farmers in Tembelang Jombang currently still use the manual method of sifting sorghum flour. As a result, the results of sifting sorghum flour still leave a problem, namely the fineness of the sorghum flour itself is still rough and not up to standard. The sieving process needs to be done several times to produce a fine flour that is 200 mesh. From these problems, a sorghum flour sieving machine was designed using a horizontal shaking system to increase partner productivity.
The process of making the machine starts from designing the engine design and the sieving filter mechanism. Then the calculation is carried out, starting with finding the force and power contained in the transmission system and calculating the design of the shaft, key, and bearing. After making the machine, then testing the actual capacity that can be produced by the sorghum flour sieving machine.
From the results of calculations and machine testing, the data obtained are power and force generated by 0.28 kW and 12.1 Kgf and planning power of 0.55 kW. The shaft material used is standart steel AISI 1117 with a diameter of 25mm, the peg material is standart steel AISI 117 with a width of 6.25 and a length of 4.16, as well as a single row ball bearing with a predictable life span. bearing A = 23395233 working hours and bearing B =46455387 working hours. After the experiment, the results of the flour sieve reached 42.75 kg/hour.
