Abstract

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport continues to be developed from year to year. This is done to support the increase in the number of aircraft in line with the increase in the number of passengers entering and leaving Ngurah Rai Airport every year. Therefore, the management of Ngurah Rai Airport immediately took concrete steps by developing the air side of the airport. The development plan that will be carried out is the extension of the runway which originally had dimensions of 3000x45 m to be extended by 400 m to become 3400x45 m. However, limited land in the airport area forces development to be carried out towards the west coast of Ngurah Rai Airport. Development is carried out by making new land from the seabed or better known as reclamation. In this study, the reclamation planning was carried out. The reclamation planning will be carried out by taking into account liquefaction because the land in the reclamation area is dominated by sandy soil plus the island of Bali was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 M. In addition, to keep the land behind it from being carried away by currents and waves to the high seas, it is necessary to plan shore protection too. Currently, soil improvement as been planned to anticipate liquefaction using dynamic compaction and stone column methods. From the results of the study, it was found that there are areas that have the potential to liquefy in the soil layer 0-5 m zone D. Therefore, alternative soil improvements are planned to anticipate liquefaction in the form of soil mixing and compaction grouting. All variations of these soil improvements are compared with the results of the existing planning, it turns out that the most effective soil improvements method to anticipate liquefaction in the Ngurah Rai Airport Runway Extension Project is dynamic compaction. Furthermore, for shore protection in this final project, it is planned to use a tetrapod and crushed stone revetment. The results of the comparison of the two shore protection plans show that crushed stone revetment is the most effective shore protection.
