Abstract

Polyurethanes are widely used in various applications in construction, automotive, and many other things. Polyurethane has a fairly high density compared to other polymers. Nanocellulose as a filler has a tendency to form pores in composite materials. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of adding nanocellulose to polyurethane composites with barium hexaferrite filler on morphology and density. The variables used in this study were the mass fraction of nanocellulose, namely 10%, 15%, and 20% and the mass fraction of barium hexaferrite was 10%. The tests carried out in this study included the Digital Microscope (DM) test, the X-Ray Difractometry (XRD) test, the Fourier Transform Infta Red (FTIR) test, and the density test. Based on the results of the DM test, it can be seen that nanocellulose has an effect on producing more pores in the composite and on the density test it is found that the pores have an effect on reducing the density of the composite. The composite variation with the addition of 20% nanocellulose resulted in the lowest density compared to other variations, which was 1.1065 gr/cm3
