Abstract
Aluminium foam memiliki beberapa keunggulan seperti rasio kekuatan terhadap beratnya yang baik, densitas yang rendah, kemampuan penyerapan energi yang baik, kapasitas redaman, serta kekuatan geser dan patah yang baik. Salah satu aplikasi aluminium foam digunakan untuk material pengisi crash box, karena memiliki kekuatan 2 kali lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan crash box yang tidak memiliki material pengisi/kosong. Pada penelitian kali ini menganalisis pengaruh penambahan CaCO3 terhadap karakteristik dan mechanical properties dari aluminium foam melalui proses pengecoran blowing agent. Variabel pada penelitian ini yaitu komposisi CaCO3 sebesar 1%, 4%, dan 7%, serta komposisi Al2O3 5%. Pengujian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah metalografi, uji densitas, pengujian kompresi dan pengujian impak didapatkan nilai densitas paling rendah dan porositas yang paling tinggi pada komposisi 4% CaCO3 yaitu 0.71 gr/cm3 dan 73.7%. Dan ukuran radius porositas semakin meningkat sebanding dengan penambahan CaCO3. Pada penyerapan energi aluminium foam paling tinggi pada komposisi 7% CaCO3 yaitu 7.1567 J. Pada uji kompresi menunjukkan hasil nilai compressive strength yang didapat bertambah seiring dengan semakin tingginya porositas aluminium foam, dimana pada komposisi 4% CaCO3 memiliki nilai paling tinggi 130.72 MPa.

Aluminium foam has several advantages: an excellent strength to weight ratio, low density, and good energy absorption capabilities. One application of aluminum foam is used for crash box filling material, because it has 2 times higher strength compared to crash box which has no filler/empty material. In this study, we analyzed the effect of adding CaCO3 to the characteristics and mechanical properties of aluminum foam through a blowing agent casting process. This research analyzes the effect of CaCO3 addition on the characteristics and mechanical properties of aluminum foam. Variables used in this study are 1, 4, and 7% CaCO3, also the composition of Al2O3. The test for this research is metallography, density test, compression test, and impact test, the lowest density and highest porosity values were found at the composition of 4% CaCO3, that is 0.71 gr/cm3 and 73.7%. Moreover, the size of the porosity radius increases with the addition of CaCO3. The highest energy absorption of aluminum foam is at the composition of 7% CaCO3 that is 7.1567 J. However, the compression test showed that the compressive strength value obtained increased along with the higher porosity of the aluminum foam, where the composition of 4% CaCO3 had the highest value of 130.72 MPa.
