Abstract

Baterai NMC merupakan baterai berbahan nikel yang meningkat permintaanya di industri electric vehicle. NMC dibuat dari nikel kualitas tinggi yang dihasilkan dari bijih sulfida berupa nickel (II) sulfate hexahydrate (NiSO4.6H2O). Bijih laterit yang ada di Indonesia melimpah dan dapat diolah untuk menghasilkan NiSO4.6H2O. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan nikel sulfat berupa NiSO4.6H2O dari ferronickel dengan proses netralisasi dan mempelajari pengaruh pH pada proses netralisasi terhadap jumlah konsentrasi, recovery, komposisi kimia, dan senyawa. Proses netralisasi pada larutan leaching menggunakan MgO 5 % (w/w) dengan variasi pH 2,5; 3,5; 4,5; 5,5; dan 6,5. Hasil diuji dengan Energy-Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), dan X-Ray Difraction (XRD). Hasil terbaik yaitu pH 3,5 dengan konsentrasi nikel sebesar 1473,00 ppm, recovery nikel sebesar 23,02 %, dan Grade nikel sebesar 3,18% .Terbentuk NiSO4.6H2O pada hasil kristalisasi dan juga beberapa senyawa lain yaitu MgSO4, FeSO4, dan CoSO4.

NMC batteries are nickel batteries that are increasing in demand in the electric vehicle industry. NMC is made from high quality nickel produced from sulfide ore in the form of nickel (II) sulfate hexahydrate (NiSO4.6H2O). Bijih laterite in Indonesia is abundant and can be processed to produce NiSO4.6H2O. Thisenelitian pelitian juanto produce nickel sulfate in the form of NiSO4.6H2O from ferronickel with neutralization process and study the influence of pH on the process of neutralization to the amount of concentration, recovery, chemical composition, and compounds. The neutralization process of leaching solution uses MgO 5 % (w/w) with pH variations of 2.5; 3.5; 4.5; 5.5; and 6.5. The results were tested with Energy-Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), and X-Ray Difraction (XRD). The best results are pH 3.5 with nickel concentration of 1473.00 ppm, nickel recovery of 23.02%, and Nickel grade of 3.18% . NiSO4 .6H2O was formed inthe crystallization and also several other compounds namely MgSO4,FeSO4,andCoSO4.
