Abstract

Landslides is one of the natural disasters that often occur in Pesisir Selatan Regency. According to the Geological Agency, Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, in August 2015, all areas in Pesisir Selatan Regency were divided into medium to high levels for soil movement. This resulted in considerable losses, including transportation infrastructure in the form of roads which is one of the important and vital aspects to accelerate the pace of national development. The location of the Pesisir Selatan Regency which plays an important role as a liaison between regions and even between provinces is also very important, so that an alternative action is needed to avoid losses due to landslides and damage to road infrastructure in the region.
In this study, an analysis was carried out to determine areas prone to landslides by scoring and weighting the parameters, namely land cover, rainfall, geology or soil type and soil slope. Through these parameters, information on landslide potential is obtained with a range of 0.8-1,375 in the low category, 1.375-1.95 in the medium category, 1.95-2,525 for the high category and the range of 2.525-3.1 for the very high category. The existing condition of Pesisir Selatan Regency has resulted in a high level of potential for landslides throughout its territory, coupled with the condition of parameters that can support these conditions. Based on the results of potential landslides, a determination was made for the construction of a new road as an alternative route in the event of a landslide using proximity analysis based on GIS (Geographical Information System). The alternative route generated by this method is 214,535 km long and is included in the National Road category. Where this alternative route passes through 13 sub-districts in Pesisir Selatan Regency. This route has better effectiveness in avoiding landslide-prone areas, and from a shorter length of road section than the existing national roads. The existence of a map of the potential for landslides and the determination of alternative routes are expected to increase the awareness of road users against the potential for landslides, as well as recommendations for route diversion in the event that road access is interrupted due to landslides.
