Abstract

Biodiversity Park is a biological resource conservation that has potention as a habitat for pollinator animals such as moths. The diversity of moths can be related with the diversity of plants, especially for host plants and feed plants of moths. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of moths in the Biodiversity Park, East Java Province. Moths sampling methods using insect nets, light sheets and light traps at three different locations (T1, T2, and T3) that could represent differences vegetation in every locations from Februari until April 2021. Data analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener (H’) index and Simpson (D). Analysis of the composition and abundance of plants using the vegetation analysis method. The results was found 83 species of moths dominated by the families of Geometridae, Crambidae, Erebidae, and Noctuidae. Dominated species at the three observation locations with high abundance were Scopula perlata, Pygospilla tyres, Chiasmia emersaria, and Gesonia obeditalis. The the Shannon-Wienner (H') species diversity index at T1 was 3.28 and T3 was 3.19 which was high category and T2 was 2.93 which was medium category. The overall value of H' for all locations is 3.47 which was high category. The value of D dominance at locations T1, T2, T3 is 0.073; 0.095; 0.066. Plant diversity does not affect the level of moth diversity. Availability of host and feed plants that affect the level of moth diversity in the Biodiversity Park. T1 has the highest diversity, assumed due to T1 have the highest abundance of host and food plants although its plant diversity is low.
