Abstract
Pembangunan industri kimia yang menghasilkan produk kimia sangatlah penting karena dapat mengurangi ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap industri luar negeri yang pada akhirnya akan dapat mengurangi pengeluaran devisa untuk mengimpor barang tersebut, termasuk diantaranya adalah metanol Methanol, CH3OH, Mr 32.042, juga disebut methyl alcohol atau carbinol, merupakan salah satu bahan kimia mentah yang penting. Sekitar 85% dari methanol yang diproduksi digunakan di industry kimia sebagai bahan baku utama atau sebagai pelarut dalam suatu proses sintesis dan sisanya digunakan pada sector bahan bakar dan energi yang mana penggunaan di bidang ini selalu meningkat. Namun, kebutuhan metanol di Indonesia belum dapat terpenuhi oleh perusahaan ini sehingga masih harus mengimport dari luar negeri. Maka dirancanglah pabrik yang direncanakan beroperasi secara kontinu 24 jam selama 330 hari per tahun dengan kapasitas produksi 415.000 ton/tahun. Berlokasi di Sumatera Selatan, tepatnya di Musi Banyuasin, yang memiliki cadangan gas bumi 9,97 TSCF. Proses pembuatan metanol dari gas alam ini terbagi menjadi empat bagian proses utama yaitu: Pre-treatment gas alam, Preparasi syn gas, Proses sintesa methanol, dan Purifikasi methanol. Sumber dana investasi berasal dari modal sendiri sebesar 40% biaya investasi dan pinjaman jangka pendek sebesar 60% biaya investasi. Berdasarkan analisa ekonomi, laju pengembalian modal (IRR) pabrik ini sebesar 13,81% dengan bunga sebesar 8,25% per tahun dan laju inflasi 1,55%. Sedangkan untuk waktu pengembalian modal (POT) adalah 6,42 tahun dan titik impas (BEP) sebesar 44% melalui cara linear. Umur dari pabrik selama 10 tahun dan masa konstruksi 3 tahun. Untuk memproduksi metanol sebanyak 415.000 ton/tahun, diperlukan biaya total produksi per tahun (TPC) sebesar Rp. 2.717.096.952.615, biaya investasi total Rp. 2.228.386.627.344 dan total penjualan sebesar Rp. 3.471.296.550.000. Dengan melihat aspek penilaian analisis ekonomi dan teknisnya, maka pabrik metanol dari gas alam ini layak untuk didirikan.

About 85% of the methanol produced is used in the chemical industry as the main raw material or as a solvent in a synthesis process and the rest is used in the fuel and energy sector that the needs are always increasing. However, this company has not been able to meet the methanol needs in Indonesia, so it still has to import from abroad. So a factory is designed to operate continuously 24 hours for 330 days per year with a production capacity of 415,000 tons/year. Located in South Sumatra, precisely in Musi Banyuasin, which has natural gas reserves of 9.97 TSCF. The process of making methanol from natural gas is divided into four main process parts, namely: Pre-treatment of natural gas, preparation of syn gas, the process of methanol synthesis, and purification of methanol. The source of investment funds comes from own capital with 40% of investment costs and short-term loans of 60% of investment costs. Based on economic analysis, the rate of return on capital (IRR) of this factory is 13.81% with an interest rate of 8.25% per year and an inflation rate of 1.55%. Meanwhile, the payback period (POT) is 6.42 years and the break-even point (BEP) is 44% in a linear way. The life of the factory is 10 years and the construction period is 3 years. To produce 415,000 tons/year of methanol, a total production cost per year (TPC) of Rp. 2,717,096,952,615, the total investment cost is Rp. 2,228,386,627.344 and total sales of Rp. 3,471,296,550,000. By looking at the aspects of the assessment of the economic and technical analysis, the methanol plant from natural gas is feasible to be established.
