Salah satu aspek mobil balap yang mendukung dan menunjang performa mobil ialah kekuatan dari chassis karena menerima beban yang sangat besar. Nogogeni ITS menggunakan jenis chassis turbular spaceframe dengan menggunakan material AISI 1020 dan menggunakan sambungan las GTAW. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa cacat las dan kekuatan tarik dari spesimen frame Nogogeni ITS Team.
Untuk menganalisa hasil pengelasan yang dilakukan dari spesimen pengujian berupa Cross Joint dengan menggunakan metode pengelasan Continous Current dan Pulse Current dan menggunakan variasi flowrate 11 L/menit dan 25 L/menit. Tahapan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari tahapan studi literatur, dilanjutkan dengan proses preparasi material, dan dilanjutkan dengan proses pengujian radiografi, kemudian dilakukan pengujian tarik spesimen, dan dilakukan analisa dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Berdasarkan analisa pengujian radiografi didapatkan data bahwa pada cacat las porositas dipengaruhi oleh tebal tube yang berbeda. Semua spesimen pengelasan memenuhi standar dari SAE sebagai parameter kualitas pengelasan pada chassis. Semua spesimen uji tarik mengalami patahan pada daerah base metal pada pipa dengan tebal 1.2mm. Jika ditinjau pada tujuan penelitian ini, maka dapat dikatakan proses pengelasan yang dilakukan berhasil dan memiliki kualitas yang sesuai dengan standar SAE untuk regulasi mengenai parameter chassis mobil Formula Student.

One aspect of a racing car that supports and supports the performance of the car is the strength of the chassis because it receives a very large load. Nogogeni ITS uses a tubular spaceframe chassis using AISI 1020 material and uses GTAW welded joints. This study aims to analyze the weld defects and tensile strength of the Nogogeni ITS Team frame specimen.
To analyze the results of welding carried out from the test specimen in the form of Cross Joint by using Continuous Current and Pulse Current welding methods and using flowrate variations of 11 L/minute and 25 L/minute. The stages in this study consisted of a literature study stage, followed by a material preparation process, and continued with a radiographic testing process, then a tensile test of the specimen, and analysis and conclusions were drawn.
Based on the analysis of radiographic testing, it was found that the porosity of the weld defect was influenced by different tube thicknesses. All welding specimens meet the standards of SAE as a parameter of welding quality on the chassis. All tensile test specimens fractured in the base metal area of the pipe with a thickness of 1.2mm. If we look at the purpose of this research, it can be said that the welding process carried out was successful and has a quality that is in accordance with the SAE standard for regulations regarding the chassis parameters of Formula Student cars.
