Abstract

Kemudahan mengakses informasi mengenai pendidikan di luar negeri mendorong mahasiswa Indonesia untuk melanjutkan studi di negara lain. Namun, belajar di luar negeri memiliki banyak tantangan. Mengelola keragaman antarbudaya dan mengatasi pembelajaran antarbudaya merupakan salah satu tantangan yang akan dihadapi saat menempuh pendidikan di luar negeri. Tantangan tersebut mempengaruhi beban kognitif mahasiswa internasional. Selain itu, aspek intercultural belum banyak dipertimbangkan secara luas dalam penelitian-penelitian yang berkaitan dengan beban kognitif, khususnya di bidang pendidikan. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh intercultural learning challenge terhadap beban kognitif siswa Indonesia di luar negeri. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner online kepada 124 mahasiswa Indonesia yang belajar di luar negeri. Pada tahap selanjutnya dari penelitian ini, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) digunakan untuk mengevaluasi signifikansi hubungan antara beberapa faktor yang diteliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intercultural learning challenge berpengaruh signifikan terhadap beban kognitif siswa.

The ease of accessing information about education abroad encourages students to continue their study in other countries. However, studying abroad has many challenges. Managing intercultural diversity and overcoming intercultural learning are two of them. These factors affect international students' cognitive load. Furthermore, intercultural aspects have not been considered widely in many studies related to cognitive load, particularly in education. This study analyzes the effect of intercultural diversity and intercultural learning challenges on the cognitive load of Indonesian students in the foreign countries. The data is collected by distributing online questionnaires to 124 Indonesian students studying abroad. In the later stage of this study, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is employed to evaluate the significance of relationships among several factors studied. The results showed that intercultural learning challenges have a significant effect on student’s cognitive load.
