Abstract

Dari perhitungan analisis ekonomi didapatkan Internal Rate of Return (IRR) sebesar 49,26% per tahun, Pay Out Time (POT) selama 1,9 tahun, dan Break Even Point (BEP) sebesar 45%.

Energy is an important part of people's lives because almost all human activities often require energy. Most of the energy used in Indonesia comes from fossil energy in the form of oil and natural gas. Biogas is a gas produced from an anaerobic process (fermentation) of organic materials. The gas generally consists of methane, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide. Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources because the source of raw materials comes from life, such as animal waste and plant waste, so that the waste of life can be used for people's daily lives. In Indonesia, waste treatment is not given much attention, which causing more pollution occurs. One of them is a factory that produces acetylene gas and carbide that produce semi-solid lime waste, namely Ca(OH)2. The Ca(OH)2 waste pollution can be reduced by optimally utilizing the waste. One way is to make Ca(OH)2 as CO2 absorbent in the purification process. This reaction will produce a by-product, CaCO3 (lime) which is a solid inorganic carbonate mineral compound in the form of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). Carbon dioxide has the largest percentage of other impurities in biogas. Carbon dioxide in biogas is an inhibitor or reduces CH4 levels so that the calorific value of biogas also decreases. On the other hand, this carbon dioxide can be used for the manufacture of PCC (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate). PCC powder can be used in various fields, such as: health, food, and industry. In the industrial sector, CaCO3 powder is used in the manufacture of paper, plastics, coats, inks, paints, and polymer pipes. CaCO3 powder with special quality was developed as a mixture of cosmetics, bioactive ingredients, and nutritional supplements. To be able to establish a biogas purification plant from acetylene factory waste into biomethane and Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) a total investment capital of IDR 18,669,121,447.84 is required with an estimated yield sales of Rp153,277,581,600 per year. From the calculation of the economic analysis, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 49.26% per year, the Pay Out Time (POT) is 1.9 years, and the Break Even Point (BEP) is 45%. From the technical aspect, a series of existing processes can produce products according to the specifications of the existing raw materials, with a production capacity of 3,853 tons of CBG/year and 12,540 tons of PCC/year.
