Abstract

In every firefighting operation, there are high-risk tasks that can threaten the safety of a firefighter. However, the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) the firefighters use has not been equipped with tools that can inform them about the temperature changes. A certain device with a similar function can replace this. That particular device is a prototype capable of measuring the increasing temperature change of the surrounding area. This prototype is equipped with an RTD sensor as a thermal detector of the area surrounding the firefighters, LED and buzzer as indicators that will give warning signals about the rising temperature, and a Wi-Fi that will send the measured temperature number to a smartphone and displayed via blynk appli-cation. This research also provides information about temperature increase in 6 heat categories. Therefore, it can be used as a reference in the decision-making process for the firefighter. The research result of the measurement system that has been conducted showed that the static characteristic value of measurement in the range of 30,9°C-90,1°C has an accuracy of 98,7%, and an error of 1,3 %, and 0,395ohm/°C of sensitivity.
